Mountain Peek - Mountain Peek is a custom residence located within the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana. The layout of the home was heavily influenced by the site. Instead of building up vertically the floor plan reaches out horizontally with slight elevations between different spaces. This allowed for beautiful views from every space and also gave us the ability to play with roof heights for each individual space. Natural stone and rustic wood are accented by steal beams and metal work throughout the home. As part of the whole home renovation, the front porch was expanded to create a proper welcoming moment, with rocking chairs and a grand entry door that set a family-friendly tone before you ever stepped inside. The foyer itself was completely transformed. Tall ceilings with full-height wall molding give the space an architectural presence that feels both classic and fresh. The staircase was redesigned with natural white oak treads, a clean white base, and sleek black iron balusters. Their wood chandelier overhead ties it all together without weighing it down. The herringbone hardwood makes an immediate statement that carries throughout the rest of the home. From the foyer, the home opens naturally in every direction. To the left, the original living room was reimagined as a library as part of the renovation, lined floor-to-ceiling with custom built-in shelving with brass gallery lights and a quiet seating arrangement. To the right is a thoughtfully designed home office with its own custom cabinetry, glass-front upper cabinets, and a light-filled workspace that still feels connected to the warmth of the rest of the home.
