By arranging the beds this way, we were also able to gain a second (much needed) closet/ wardrobe space. Painting the floors gave the idea of a fun rug being there, but without shifting around and getting destroyed by the boys.

built in bunks - With the lower ceilings in this cottage basement we had to figure out how to maximize the bunk space without banging heads. This box mount on the floor solution did the trick. The column adds support and makes the bunks appear to be floating. The stained wood ladders that become safety rails are just one more detail that the builder and his sons added to the mix.

In order to mimic an outdoor space, we added an indoor swing. The side of the playhouse has a small soft area with green carpeting to mimic grass, and a small picket fence. The tree wall stickers add to the theme. A huge highlight to the space is the custom designed, custom built craft table with plenty of storage for all kinds of craft supplies. The rustic laminate wood flooring adds to the cottage theme.
